TRUMPET WARRIOR

TRUMPET WARRIOR (Mitsch) 1990 1YW-WWY. M. 21" (Chiloquin x Arctic Gold) 2P33/1. The center of attention at our place in 1984 when the last ADS convention was held in Portland.

Trumpet Warrior was blooming for its fourth time that year and has been a consistent flower each year since. Elegant, well poised, strong contrast are words that contribute to its description.

The pure white trumpet is flared with a moderate lemon ruffle at the margin.

Flat spade shaped perianth segments of sharp lemon complete the stunning effect. An excellent addition to the show quality reverse bicolor division ones.

INCA

INCA (Mitsch) 1985 6Y-WWY. E. 30 cm. (Barlow open pollinated) JO1/1.

The fruition of Grant Mitsch's work with reverse bicolor cyclamineus hybrids has been in Swallow and Wheatear and now Inca, with a form very distinct from the previous two.

Of beautiful glistening color, the slightly reflexed greenish lemon perianth segments are quite broad and complement the long straight cup which fades to nearly white with a distinct gold band.

BERCEUSE

BERCEUSE (Mitsch) 1989 2W-P. M. 16" ((Melody Lane x Rose Caprice) x (Carita x Accent)) KK8/5.

Clean intense color, waxy refinement, heavy substance, sheer elegance are words whose composite give a description to portray this flower to the mind's eye.

The broad white perianth, outer segments almost touching, is perfectly smooth and symmetrical, being a bit reflexed.

The mid length moderately expanded cup is deeply colored intense rose pink with a hint of lavender. A beautiful flower to contemplate.

HILLSTAR

HILLSTAR (Mitsch) 1979 7YW-YWW. LM. 16". (Daydream x N. jonquilla) F72/6. Medium sized, bright lemon yellow perianth with a white halo. The crown is ivory, shaded buff, with a white edge.

Usually two or three blooms on a stem. Distinctively different from its sibling, Canary. This is one of the very few jonquils which readily sets seed for us.
